FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Toledo, OH – June 23, 2023 – NAMI Greater Toledo, the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), is thrilled to announce that its annual event, NAMIWalks Your Way, has achieved a remarkable milestone by raising over $100,000 for the first time in its history. This incredible achievement demonstrates the unwavering support and commitment of the Toledo community towards mental health advocacy.

NAMIWalks Your Way, held on Saturday, May 20, brought together individuals, families, local businesses, and organizations to raise funds and awareness for mental health initiatives.

Robin Isenberg, Executive Director of NAMI Greater Toledo, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the community, stating, “We are absolutely thrilled to announce that NAMIWalks Your Way has surpassed the $100,000 fundraising milestone. This remarkable achievement not only highlights the immense compassion and dedication of our community members but also signifies a collective commitment to addressing mental health challenges.”

Isenberg further emphasized the increasing demand for mental health resources, saying, “In the past year, we have witnessed a significant surge in calls for help and support. The pandemic has brought mental health to the forefront, and individuals and families are reaching out to us more than ever. The funds raised through NAMIWalks Your Way will enable us to expand our programs and services, ensuring that we can continue providing vital support to those who need it most.”

The success of NAMIWalks Your Way also reflects the growing recognition of mental health in the workplace. Local businesses have been instrumental in championing mental health initiatives and creating supportive environments for their employees. Isenberg shared her appreciation, stating, “We are grateful to see businesses placing a greater emphasis on mental health and well-being in the workplace. This shift in mindset promotes not only the overall health of employees but also boosts productivity and fosters a culture of empathy and support.”

Buckeye Broadband was the Presenting Sponsor for the 3rd straight year, and O-I joined as a new Gold Sponsor for the walk as well. Buckeye, The Andersons and UTMC all held walks on their own campuses to make participation easier for employees.

NAMI Greater Toledo remains committed to its mission of improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness through education, advocacy, and support. The funds raised through NAMIWalks Your Way will directly contribute to expanding their outreach efforts, education programs, support groups, and community resources.
